This enables you to submit your grant application without the need to visit a SASSA office in person, and the process simply involves creating an account and works of all grants with no fee service.

You can use the SASSA Online Application for the various social relief grants available in South Africa, requiring eligibility criteria as a permanent resident/citizen or a refugee with asylum status.

With the SASSA online application, you can apply for a range of social grants, such as child support, foster child, disability, care dependency, grant-in-aid, old age, and war veterans.

The application process required the following documents.

• Applicant’s Identity Card or 13 Digit Bar Coded ID Document
• Refugees and minors are required to provide an Affidavit as Proof of ID and Residency
• Proof of Marital Status (if applicable, married)

SASSA Account Registration for Online Application

1. Visit the SASSA services at the Sassa official portal.
2. Click on “Register A New Account” to access SASSA services.
3. Agree to the registration consent and click “Apply” to proceed.
4. Fill out the “SASSA Registration” form with your personal information, including citizenship, ID number, name, email, and cellphone number. Choose a strong password.
5. Click “Register Me” to create your account.

Once your account is created, you will receive a confirmation message (SMS) containing an OTP with a web link, that you can use to complete your registration process and then proceed with the online application steps.

• Important Notice: Remember to keep the dated stamped receipt as proof of application, which is relevant for both online and manual submission at the SASSA branch office.

SASSA Application Online Submission

The following steps will guide you through the process of submitting your SASSA grant application, ensuring that you complete all the required information.

1. Log in to your SASSA account. https://services.sassa.gov.za/
2. Select the type of grant you wish to apply for from the “Social Grant Options” menu.
3. Complete the SASSA application form with all the necessary details.
4. Print the SASSA-generated affidavit and have it certified by a commissioner of oaths.
5. Sign the Bank Payment Form and submit it with your affidavit.
6. Upload the required certified supporting documents in PDF format.
7. Submit your social grant application to SASSA by clicking the “Submit” button.

By following these steps, you will successfully apply for any SASSA social grant and proceed with the SASSA Status Check to know the approval, rejection, or pending status.

Time Taken for SASSA Online Application Approval

It usually takes up to 3 months (90 days) for SASSA application to process grant applications, especially when many people apply.

Once your grant has been approved, you’ll get an SMS with SASSA payment dates to receive your grant money.

SASSA Application Declined

If your SASSA application is declined, don’t worry. SASSA will provide a written explanation for the decline.

If you believe the decision is incorrect, you have the option to appeal within 90 days of application submission.

• Submit your appeal to SASSA for your declined grant application that will go through the Department of Social Development for reconsideration.
