  3. Provide the 6-digit Application ID (AppID) that SASSA issued to your grant application or reapplication.
  4. Click the submit button to proceed.
  5. Please provide your personal email address if you one to receive your verification code.
  6. Enter the new number to change your old SASSA cellphone number.
  7. You will receive an ID verification code via SMS or through your email if provided.
  8. Fill in the receiving code on the given field to verify your identity.
  9. Click on the “Submit” button to submit your request to the authorities.
  10. Wait for the changes to take place and get a notification update.

This process is suitable if you have lost your phone number or are upgrading to a new one to not lose your SASSA grant benefits.

Report SASSA lost Phone Number

In case your cell phone number is lost in an incident, you need to report it to SASSA and proceed with instructions to change your phone number.

There is no other way to receive SASSA payments without your cell phone number, which is used to receive SASSA status and payment dates for the approved month.

You can use the following steps to report to SASSA about the lost cell phone number, as it is linked to your grant application.

  1. Go to the SASSA website and click on the report Unauthorized Cell Phone Number Changes.
  2. Fill in your personal information and explain the situation.
  3. Click “Submit” to report the issue to the SASSA national agency.
  4. Get instructions from SASSA regarding the resolution.

Waiting Time for SASSA to Update Your Phone Number

It takes 24 hours to 4 working days for SASSA to update your phone number in the system after successful changes. During this time, Sassa verify your identity and ownership of both the old and new numbers.

Once the update is complete, you will receive a notification confirming the successful number change on your new number. After this update, all SASSA notifications will be sent to your new number. Your old number will no longer be used to access the SASSA database for any purpose.

Receive SASSA Payments After Changing Phone Number

Once SASSA successfully updates your new phone number, you will start receiving your grant payments in the upcoming payment cycle, often within the same month if you’ve completed the process before the following payment date.

Change Phone Number Without Application ID

If you don’t have your grant application ID, SASSA will not authorize the modification of the beneficiary’s mobile phone number.

This unique identifier is used for verification to ensure you are the rightful recipient, preventing unauthorized changes and potential illegal activities.
