If your SASSA Status Check shows Pending Banking Details, it means your chosen payment method is no longer valid or you haven’t chosen one yet. You can solve this by updating your SASSA banking details for SRD R370 and social grant instead of visiting the SASSA office. You just need to log into your account and submit your new bank account information to switch your payment method to a bank transfer method.

Change SASSA Banking Details

To change SASSA banking details for R370 and social grants like Social Relief of Distress, Disability, Child Support, Care Dependency, or Old Age Grants, you only need your approved cell phone number and ID card. South African Social Security Agency recommends using bank payments for social grants to help beneficiaries avoid delays at post offices and retail outlets.

  1. Visit the SRD website to change SASSA banking details online.
  2. Choose the correct section based on your identification type: South African ID Holder or Asylum Seeker and Special Permit Holder.
  3. Scroll down to “How do I change my banking details” and click on it.
  4. Enter your South African ID number in the provided box.
  5. You will receive an SMS with a 6-digit OTP on your registered cellphone number.
  6. Enter the OTP and click the Verify Pin button to get verify your ID.
  7. You will then receive a message with a Change SASSA Payment Method link.
  8. Follow the instructions in the secure link to update your bank details securely.
  9. If you have a personal bank account, it is required to add your bank name, account number, and account type in order.
    • Choose your bank name.
    • Provide your account number.
    • Provide the branch code.
    • Select your account type.
    • Agree to the terms and conditions.
    • Submit your banking details.
  10. If you don’t have a personal bank account and want to update your banking details to other payment methods.
    • You can choose the Cash Send payment option, and receive cardless grant payments at recognized retail shops of Pick N Pay, Checkers, and Boxer, other than Post Office by default method.
    • Agree to the terms and conditions.
    • Submit your banking details.
  11. Once you have submitted the updated banking details, SASSA will verify your new payment method and future payments will be made accordingly.

Important Note:

  • For every month you can proceed to SASSA status check to ensure not miss out on monthly approved payments.
  • Please ensure that you check SASSA payment dates for approved monthly grant payments every month to collect your payment.

Verification Process Time

The SASSA verification process typically takes 7 to 10 business days. Once verified, SASSA will notify you via SMS or email confirming the update of your preferred payment method.
