Rumours have been circulating on social media suggesting that the R350 grant will be increased to R700. SASSA’s official statement on Twitter clarifies that this information is untrue.

The only official statement trending is the SRD R350 (Social Relief of Distress) grant will not see an increase but will be extended until March 31, 2024.

The national agency emphasizes that the social media post promoting the R700 grant is entirely fraudulent and should be avoided at all costs. This is not the first time scammers have targeted grant recipients.

Recently, SASSA warned the public about a deceptive post claiming that free clothing vouchers were available at PEP stores and that SASSA giving free food parcels to grant holders.
