SASSA Appeal Online
If your SASSA grant application has been declined, you have the right to submit a SASSA appeal for reconsideration. This process applies to all social grants, including the SRD R370, Disability, Older Persons Grant, and Childerns Grants. Your appeal application is handled through the Department of Social Development (DSD).
SASSA Appeal Online
To complete the process of SASSA appeal against your declined grant decision, you must have your South African ID and the cellphone number used during your SASSA application.
- Visit the Department of Social Development website to Appel for SASSA grant. https://srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal
- Click on the tab “Lodge an Appeal” to proceed with the process.
- Enter your ID and the cellphone number linked with the declined SASSA grant.
- Click the Send PIN button and to receive the verification OTP code.
- Insert the PIN code and click the Submit button to get verified.
- You have to select the month when SASSA grant get declined or application rejected in the calendar section.
- Provide the valid reason for your SASSA appeal application.
- Click Submit Appeal to send your appeal for processing by the ITSAA at DSD.
Once the ITSAA processes your appeal, you will be notified of the outcome via text message or email. If you have lost your phone number, log into your SASSA account to change phone number SASSA details. This ensures that you receive important messages and OTP verifications.
To improve the chances of a successful appeal, ensure your reason is valid and well-founded. Clearly explain why you believe the SASSA decision is incorrect, and provide any relevant information to support your case to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA). The ITSAA, under the Department of Social Development, adheres to Section 33 of the South African Constitution and the Administrative Justice Act.
How Much Time SASSA Takes to Approve Your Appeal
You will receive confirmation from SASSA once your appeal application has been successfully submitted. The Independent Tribunal will then process the appeal and endeavour to finalize it within 60 to 90 days from the date it was received. They will inform the appellant about the status of the appeal through email and SMS sent to the registered phone number. You will start receiving SASSA payments for the declined month when your appeal application stand approved.

During the waiting period, you can check your appeal status for your submitted appeal application. SASSA encourage beneficiaries to stay informed about the progress of your appeal, and whether it has been reviewed and approved so that you can receive payment for declined months.
- Visit the SASSA Appeal Status Check page.
- Enter your South African ID number and phone number.
- Click on the ‘Check Status’ button to view your appeal status for declined grant.
If you have changed your number, you have to go through https://srd.sassa.gov.za and log in to your SASSA account to check your appeal status.

I applied for 350 grant in April 2024 , it declined indicating that I`m UIF registered of which I was no longer receiving any government payment what so ever .
I appealed 3 months ago but I haven’t received any feedback with regard to my appeal . I also engaged in numerous chats with sassa departments through phone calls and email , however , all my attempts were fruitless up to now

i’m so hurts i didn’t receive July payment due to reason i used my bank account to get help from my cousin with few groceries .she sent money through this account now my sasa 350 declined say i have means of income…i have received help once elsewhere now i have to suffer going through appeals.it gonna take up to 90 days for results and even the appeal box reasons why you appeal are explaining enough to make sense or weight of your appeal.
these 3 months i have to wait not sure ill be paid for if appeal for july aproves…i don’t know how im going to get through this mouth with less im left with …..please make changes of how you appeal…bank account shoul be helping you anytime of these situations and i must be able to appeal with valid reasons for source of income and not just declined me.

Hi for the past months I have not been approve to receive any payments. I did appeal every month but to date without any success. I’m appealing for denying my grant of 350 I was working for a contract of 3years I didn’t got any amount from labour I was registered at Sars and they gave me money

Morning I was trying to update my banking details decline don’t know what the reason is.
Please before updating your bank details make sure you already received your grant for that check status here https://srdstatus.co.za/ then you can change your details and you will not face decline issue
Since last year July my application is been decline and they say due to the source of income and while am not working even my bank statement does not reflect any income so i don’t know really where us the problem

Please check your October 2023 Grant status here https://srdstatus.co.za/ if it says rejected then you need to contact your nearest SASSA office or call helpline. Also you need to appeal for each rejected month.
